A professional athlete is literally a walking business. Phenomenal physical talents coupled with high sport-IQ make athletes very successful… and marketable. Of the main team sports’ athletes, basketball players are typically most identifiable because basketball has the fewest players per roster. Retailers take full advantage of these players’ popularity among fans/consumers. Endorsement deals for successful basketball players are often just as lucrative as their salary contracts, if not more. But, the benefits that come with the business aspect of sports must be preceded by success on the court.

Coaches affiliated with BI Libraries teach fundamentals that translate to all levels of basketball, developing stand-out players. From BI, players learn how to scout their opponent by thinking like a coach. We educate players on the rules of amateur status and what it means to be a student-athlete, placing emphasis on grades and earning Division 1 scholarships from the classroom as well. Players are introduced to business and marketing (we promote as a major) and to basic contract jargon. Lastly, BI partners with weight trainers and nutritionists to avert player injuries. If one’s dream is to become a successful professional basketball player, these are the measures that must be taken. The realization of this end goal is definitely a group effort, and it requires total family commitment. Up-front investments and sacrifices will have to be made, but the benefits are boundless for the Magic Johnsons, Michael Jordans, Lebron Jameses, and Candace Parkers of the generations that follow.
