Children are not robots; they are not designed by one code that allows the uploading of one universal learning program. If that were the case, the world would not need educators. Contrarily, children are very unique individuals with minds that are as unique as their fingerprints. Asking all students to learn the same way and at the same rate would be like asking them all to grow the same height and at the same rate. If this sounds unfair, that’s probably because it is. Everyday, educators devise creative methods to reach as many students in the classroom as possible. But when ingenuity in teaching does not afford schools the ability to reach all students of the classroom, extracurricular mediums must be employed.
BI Libraries partners with after-school programs, community centers, and tutoring organizations to strengthen children’s competence in the core subjects: Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Reading. But because some children need the focused care provided in a concentrated setting, we also offer private tutorials to break away from even the bustle and commotion of the usual after-school settings. Our strategy begins with learning our students and using their strengths and familiarities as our point of origin. Sessions are then geared toward textbook tutoring, developing healthy and effective study habits, and offering proven testing strategies. We feel that these three components are necessary to bring children up to speed and to make them self-sufficient students.
