Whether entering the job market for the first time or returning to it in hopes of repositioning oneself career-wise, it is important to gain a competitive advantage by learning all there is to know about the requirements of the desired occupation. Research is key as it increases the efficiency of planning by reducing wasted motions or efforts. “It doesn’t matter how fast one is running, if he’s headed in the wrong direction.” Very much like the success of a track star, proper direction from coaches who have experience and applicable training, in the form of research and practice, typically correlates with success in the job market.
Our job is to serve as coaches by training our patrons for success in the today’s job market. We research positions, their job and education requirements, and company and industry jargon. We also teach methods for building effective résumés. Overall, we work diligently to map out the steps and avenues that lead to professional goals, but it is the investments and sacrifices one is willing to make—time, effort, money, etc.—that ultimately make him or her successful.
